Which came first? Love to balance accounts or love puzzles? Determining the most efficient way to process a paper trail. Becoming a liaison between department managers and IT, what does that data represent for them?
 
A beginning in public accounting exposed me to how those debits and credits from accounting classes do mean something. Moving to corporate accounting for an international company allowed me the opportunity to learn about intercompany transactions and consolidation, foreign currency, and the chance to move into a management role for a startup. That startup saw me grow from the 7th employee, writing financial policy and managing personnel. I loved the operational role and developed the fully burdened cost of our manufactured product.
 
Learning every step of the way, seeing a problem, and determining the solution, aka puzzle solving. That startup was sold to a West Coast firm, and I was one of the last to wind down the manufacturing facility, then consulted to transition the financial reporting systems. To have the experience of a startup to a closure (over 8 years) is priceless.
 
That ability to make things happen has been helpful throughout the years of self-employment. You wear many hats. The one I am most proud of is service. As a Real Estate Agent and Broker in Charge, I provide a service to our clients. Many of our friends were first clients. Referrals are much of our business. Community involvement and education are cornerstones of our company philosophy. Learn something new every day.
